In this episode of the Life Coach BFF Show, Heather Pettey discusses a surprising encounter with her son at a high school football game that sparked reflections on our relationship with God.

She draws parallels between how teenagers seek their parents in times of need and how we often turn to God only when we face challenges.

Heather shares insights from Dr. Lisa De Moore's book 'Untangled' and emphasizes the importance of keeping God at the center of our lives, even during good times. Practical tips for maintaining a daily connection with God, such as starting the day with prayer, listening to worship music, and practicing gratitude, are also highlighted.

In episode 238 of Life Coach BFF Show, hosts Heather Pettey and Dr. Carol Lynn discuss their summer experiences, including the challenges of managing teenagers' screen time. They then introduce Misty Ivy, a dermatology-certified nurse practitioner, who shares her expertise on skincare routines, effective treatments, and products.

The conversation covers essential daily skincare steps, the benefits of procedures like Morpheus 8 and Botox, and practical advice for maintaining youthful skin. Misty emphasizes the importance of sunscreen and a consistent skincare regimen.

The episode highlights realistic beauty routines and offers actionable tips for listeners to enhance their skincare practices.

Misty's Tips:
1. Daily skincare routine I never skip
👉 “Cleanser, retinol at night, and sunscreen every single morning — non-negotiable.”
2. Three products I’d keep forever
👉 “Sunscreen, retinol, and a good moisturizer — those three cover protection, repair, and hydration.”
3. Top concern for women over 45
👉 “Most worry about firmness, wrinkles, and uneven tone — they want to look refreshed, not different.”
4. Two procedures I’d choose this month
👉 “Botox for lines, and microneedling or laser for collagen and glow.”
5. When someone’s “overdone it”
👉 “When I can’t see their natural expressions anymore — my goal is enhancement, not erasing who you are.”
6. Diet’s role in skin
👉 “Food matters. A Mediterranean-style diet with fish, veggies, and olive oil is skin-friendly. Sugar? Not so much.”
7. Menopause and skin
👉 “Estrogen drops mean drier, thinner skin. Every woman should moisturize more, use sunscreen daily, and treat skin gently.”
8. Collagen hype
👉 “Creams don’t work. Supplements may help a little. But retinoids and treatments like microneedling are the real collagen boosters.” And preventing collagen loss with sun protection.
9. Best vitamins/supplements
👉 “Vitamin D if you’re low, omega-3s for inflammation, and maybe collagen peptides. But food is still the best source.”
10. Dryness solutions
👉 “Moisturize right after showering, use a humidifier in winter, and look for ceramides or hyaluronic acid in products.”
11. Overrated skincare trend
👉 “Luxury creams that cost hundreds of dollars. Sunscreen and retinol do more than any $300 jar.”
12. Vitamin D vs sunscreen
👉 “I don’t recommend skipping sunscreen. Get vitamin D through food or supplements — it’s safer for your skin long term.”
13. Best treatments for sun damage & spots
👉 “Prescription creams, chemical peels, IPL, or laser — paired with strict sunscreen to keep results.”
14. Entry-level procedures
👉 “Botox, light chemical peels, or microneedling — natural, effective, and not overdone.”
15. A 5-minute routine
👉 “Cleanser, vitamin C, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Quick and powerful.” Tretinoin every night!
16. What excites me in dermatology
👉 “Regenerative treatments — using your own platelets or energy-based devices to rebuild collagen naturally. That’s the future.”
My next treatment ellacore !!
